"YOUNG PEOPLE." is a youth program at St. John Paul II Catholic parish in the Inspirada neighborhood of Henderson, NV, the newest parish in the Archdiocese of Las Vegas. In the spirit of our patron saint, Pope Saint John Paul II, our purpose is to love youth with authenticity, to meet them where they are, and to lead them to Jesus, whom they seek.

The name "YOUNG PEOPLE." is taken directly from Pope St. John Paull II, who lovingly addressed all Catholic Youth worldwide with his iconic opening "Dear young people..."

In the year 2000, at the World Youth Day, a gathering he created in 1985, John Paul said this in his address to his Young People:

"It is Jesus in fact that you seek when you dream of happiness; he is waiting for you when nothing else you find satisfies you; he is the beauty to which you are so attracted; it is he who provokes you with that thirst for fullness that will not let you settle for compromise; it is he who urges you to shed the masks of a false life; it is he who reads in your hearts your most genuine choices, the choices that others try to stifle. It is Jesus who stirs in you the desire to do something great with your lives, the will to follow an ideal, the refusal to allow yourselves to be grounded down by mediocrity, the courage to commit yourselves humbly and patiently to improving yourselves and society, making the world more human and more fraternal."

In that same light, our goal is to afford young people every opportunity to learn and grow in their Catholic-Christian faith. Through periodic gatherings, activities, prayer, and the Holy Liturgy we advocate young people to develop a personal relationship with God.
